Miley Cyrus, the Newest Falling Child Star

As the Hollywood star takes a hit of the bong, does she think about the nightmares that might come up if the video is released to the public eye? Will she think about the plethora of kids who consider her their role-model? No. She seems to care more about smoking Salvia, a legal but hallucinogenic drug, to help celebrate her 18th birthday, than her once squeaky-clean image.

Miley Cyrus is at it again.  Horrifying her parents, shocking fans, making parents rethink Hannah Montana completely.

Her father, the 90s country heart throb, Billy Ray Cyrus, posted on Twitter once he saw the video, “Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I’m so sad. There is much beyond my control right now.”

While the young Cyrus is up to her antics, students and staff at Penn Manor seem to be as disappointed in her as her parents.

“I would never let my daughter look up to her as a role-model anymore,” assistant principal, Eric Howe said.

“Miley Cyrus is supposed to be a role-model for young children,” senior Melissa Martin explained, ” This was a horrible thing for her to be taped doing and I hope she gets in a lot of trouble.”

In the past couple of years, Miley has gone from being the perfect role-model for the younger generation to just the opposite. Since she started growing into an adult, she’s changed dramatically from the icon of wholesomeness as a Disney Channel star that many parents had been happy their children looked up to.

“If I had kids, I would let them look up to Hannah Montana, but Miley Cyrus is a different story,” senior Leah Freeman said, “but then again nobody’s perfect.”

Miley has proven to the population that she is growing up. She’s pole danced during her performance in the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, she sent around pictures of her being scandalous to her, at that time boyfriend Nick Jonas, she took pictures for a magazine with her dad and some where she was only wearing a shear sheet, she gave a lap dance to her director of The Last Song, and now she has the video of her taking hits from a bong.

“I think if you are that famous, you should be more careful about what gets out,” junior Joey Jackson said.

“People like controversy because that’s what sells,” said Cyrus in her interview with Bazaar Magazine about her pole-dancing incident at the Teen Choice Awards.

“My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent,” said Cyrus during the interview. “My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act, because I’m still figuring that out for myself. So to take that away from me is a bit selfish. Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That’s just life.”

Junior Marc Summy has never seen the video, but said, “it will tarnish her reputation she had as Hannah Montana.”

The Disney channel star is definitely not living up to the perfect little girl she portrayed in the show.  It remains to be seen how this will affect her career.

  1. • United states has become so sexist, United States violates the rights of women around the world?
I am Latina, I do not speak English

Formerly the village women’s liberation. Before respected intelligent women today make fun of them.

The country of freedom has become the country most sexist of all. Now they are even more sexist than here in Latin America.
Everyone thought that American men were good and faithful BUT ALL WE ARE ADVISED THAT SINCE THE WORST. Example: Before Brad Pitt was a role model for me, but since he deceived his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston fell off my pedestal and all blond hypocrites. They are the most sexist, but the propaganda that they are the best.

    What do you appreciate America?

Feminine beauty and feelings more or less

    Just as Angelina Jolie.

But that too was done in the Middle Ages, only appreciated women for their beauty and nothing else. What’s twilight?

America is the cradle of the most sexist saga of the world. A woman who is beautiful as Bella Swan, has good feelings and stupid. What is appreciated in the Middle Ages.
Please, that fell to the middle ages.
Men of the Middle Ages only admired pretty women of good feelings and having no brain.
And you Americans returned to the Middle Ages. Intelligent and decent women should have at least the same respect as the most beautiful.

  2. Is twilight “the most sexist saga of all time”, sexist American pride?

Why Bella Swan is so weak in the series

Why Bella Swan can not defend itself
Twilight “is like a fairy tale where the prince vampire must save” his princess pretty stupid?

Bella Swan Why not study and gets a career?
Why is it only works to marry and have children and women of the Middle Ages?

  3. No parent should should allow their kids to hold Miley Cyrus or any star or athlete as a role model. A child’s role model should be the parent. If that doesn’t work, then they should look to teachers, Law enforcement, Fire fighers, military, medical professionals, and such, as their role models. These people have a direct efect on the lives of other people. Stars and athletes have little or no effect, and are usually just trying to earn a living by providing us all with some form of entertainement. They are not trying to be role models to the extent of never doing anything wrong.

  4. Miley is very smart and knows exactly what she is doing. If she never tried anything that would be unusual in our world. She should experience life to it’s fullest. She has worked very hard as a child star and made millions for Disney. She is not at Disney anymore and can live any way she wants. Who is Disney to control young celebrities anyway. Real kids are not angels! Real kids want to see real people and how they really are, not fake acting. I always loved seeing real kids as a child. I would not like these fake shows of the year 2010. The good old Brady Bunch and Eight is Enough were great family shows. They showed the kids being real, not over acting and being commediens. Miley is extremely talented and well beyond her years. She can sing and dance and act! She is fine. So the public needs to get a life of their own and stop tearing people down once they make it big. It is the media that can tear a star down and hurt them. It is that craziness that makes stars drink and do drugs. Leave her alone!

  5. Shes not SUPPOSED to be a role model for children. People just label her that. Shes doing nothing wrong, she an 18 yearold girl thats makeing mistakes. Its what shes supposed to be doing right now. If you dont think that shes a good example for your kids then dont let them watch her movies, dont let them listen to her music, dont let them watch her music videos. Its not Mileys responsibility to teach your kids whats right or wrong, its yours.

  6. I do not want my child to look up to these silly celebs as role models. But it’s so hard enough already to have them listen to you once they get to a certain age, and they are constantly being bombarded by images and messages in the media about what is ‘cool’ – that is what you are competing with. When I was a kid 20 years ago, I was able to enjoy media entertainment safely, I’m disappointed now that my child is missing out on that as there is hardly anything suitable, and the quality is far less. If Miley thinks this behavior is giving her any credibility with an adult audience… think again. Taylor Swift has more credibility than you and doesn’t indulge in skimpy outfits or the drugs and partying. She is handling her fame with more self restraint and maturity.

Now I read that Britney is being recruited by Disney to help mentor its young stars… who is anybody kidding? I think it’s bad for all of them to deal with their growing up issues in the spotlight, and the best thing for her atm would be a break from show biz, but of course everyone around her approves what she is doing because she fills their coffers.

  7. You kids may just be a high school newspaper, but that’s no excuse for gross inaccuracies! The dance you are referring to happened at the 2009 “Teen Choice Awards,” not the “Kids Choice Awards.” Being from the generation of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Who, I can assure you that “Miley’s Bong Video” will only enhance her career. And you might want to consider offering a more analytical piece next time that investigates why a child star turning adult might want to change her image. Her only alternative to what she’s been doing in the last few years would be to watch her career slowly fade into oblivion. That’s what happens to child stars who try to retain their phony Disney images into adulthood. If you had intelligent teachers and parents they would have told you that. Consider who buys the most records and movie tickets. It’s not high school students or their parents, it’s people in their 20s who are looking for sexy performances and don’t buy the Disney princess act.

  8. Look, Miley’s 18, she can do whatever she wants. People bashing her for taking salvia is ridiculous. She made a mistake, thats all, everyone does it at one point in their life. She’s moved on from Disney Channel now and is no longer a role-model for 6 year old kids, shes got a higher age group audience. Its pretty hard for her having her life in the public eye, and all shes doing is living her dream and having fun. So whoever is bashing her for this, stop. She made one little mistake, and no it maybe wasn’t the best idea, but her true fans will support her no matter what. TEAM MILEY! (:

  9. who dares a teenage girl to be a role model. Do we stop our kids from watching sports? I think you must see how she handles this crisis I think she will be just fine

  10. if a parent expects a teenager to be their childrens role model there is seriously something wrong with the parent
and just because she smoked savila doesnt mean she is the newest faling star people dont critize 21 year olds for drinking bear then why would they critize an 18 year old for somking savila when its legal
    so get over it
fyi many teenagers do drugs and they dont all end up like skrew ups

  11. Disney doesn’t make people get out of hand, they just choose actors for their shows, they didn’t say anything about children should act more like the stars of their shows.

  12. its salvia and its legal so shes fine, and she is shamokin hot so let her be. besides she could be doing actual drugs and this is no issue.
